Welcome to part four of the Let Them saga.
If you’re just joining us, here’s what you’ve missed…
In January 2025, I did what my papa did before me: fight for justice. I broke the story about Mel Robbins’s alleged plagiarism of Cassie Phillips’s poetry and prose and hit a tender nerve in the writing community. It’s led to a call to action to protect writers and their work from AI generated plagiarism—as well as a signal to the straws being used by some celebrities to usurp slurp the movements popularized by lesser know authors.
Please follow along and read this story … which is still in progress.

Caution Before You Buy Cassie’s Book
Someone has capitalized on the Mel Robbins vs Cassie Phillips scandal and released their own version of Let Them. It’s a yellow covered book claiming it’s inspired by Cassie Phillips’s Let Them poem, and it’s supposedly written by someone with a one letter difference in their last name: “Cassandra Philips.” (The last name given has only one L, unlike the two Ls found in the real Cassie’s last name.)
This fraud is being contested. Due to the lack of safeguards by Amazon, that allowed this counterfeit book on their site (a release which seems likely to have been generated by AI plagiarism), the real Cassie Phillips had to remove her book. She will soon publish her book, but some housekeeping at Amazon has to happen first before she publishes.

I appreciate the hard work with this. I was so inspired when I heard Mel talk about Let them. It really stuck with me. I was Incensed to hear of it being a stolen idea, and grateful to you for educating me. I’ve written to Cassie to invite her on my We Are Already Free podcast to share her story and HER book! Crazy that there’s now been this update!!
I followed Mel because at first she seemed motivating. But then I got tired of her voice. Really, it got irrittating and her messages felt preachy after a while. Promoting this book she was all over the place online hyping. When I saw this brought to light, I unsubscribed from all her stuff and even began noting within commenting threads it was Cassie's poem not some might aha! Mel came up with. Happy to support this effort to bring Cassie forward.
