I Choose Freedom
Will you?

Every person faces a moment in which they must choose to remain a hostage to living a lie to stay a part of a tribe (family, job, spiritual community, political regime, country of origin, etc.) or to set themselves free to live their truth and not betray themselves any longer.
This is my moment, and I choose freedom.
We are at a time in American history, world history for that matter, when the efforts to maintain freedom should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
Writing the book, Freedom, taught me how to practice what I preach, to the best of my ability. These are some of the generous reviews I’d like to share with you in the hope that you will listen to this book too.
How free are you?
The chaos in our life begins with what we open ourselves up to.
I learned how to close the doors to the chaos that comes from dysfunctional relationships, destructive social constructs, and the limiting and false beliefs surrounding our ability to create change.
In a world ever competing for our attention, fewer and fewer people seem to have the concentration to read anymore, so I recorded Freedom as an audiobook for 2026, to make it accessible for everyone.
The book is divided into three parts:
1. Creating freedom from within by taking radical responsibility for our life, through the personal boundaries that dissolve self-destructive behaviors.
2. Creating freedom from without, through the empowering act of nonviolent, community civic engagement.
And
3. A bit of my personal story with the process of creating a life of freedom and the dramatic circumstances that led to that necessity.
How this book has impacted my life:
After the book was first published in 2022, I read it as a map for myself; and it led me on a journey to six countries that was so magnificent and unexpected, I never would have thought it was possible until I believed my own words that I’d written for others. In doing so, I experienced the results for myself. The concepts in the book have been tested and have worked for me and I truly believe they can work for anyone.
Today, my life is equal parts exciting and terrifying. I am living my life as free as I can be, which includes no safety net. The latter is not by choice, but it is what it is.
I do not perform positivity, perfection, or pretend to have it all figured out—but I did strike gold with some of the insights in this book, and I do believe that a single tax change proposal that’s covered in the book could save democracy.
I’m not a wealthy influencer coach or a guru trying to give self-help advice. I’m just a conscientious writer, an intensely sincere performing artist, and a devoted mom, who was motivated to write Freedom by a place of profound love, to protect my daughter; protect all our daughters.
Everything we need to know is already within us. We are all students and teachers—mirrors reflecting inherent knowledge—but sometimes we need a flashlight to find our way to the truth. Freedom is intended to be a flashlight to your truth—to your freedom—to ignite solutions to income inequity and inspire individuals to design a life they don’t need a vacation from.
We have a great deal of power in what we choose to do, based on what we choose to believe is possible to do. Our beliefs either pave the path we want to follow or create roadblocks, illustrating how we stand in our own way.
If I am an expert on anything in life, it’s resilience of the human spirit, a direct result of harnessing my beliefs. I know what it’s like to survive loss in many varied forms. I’ve perfected the routine of rest, recover, and reboot. The first flight in recorded history was the Phoenix rising, and we all share that same DNA.
The best way to hold on to freedom is to not give it away in the first place. There may never be a more crucial period, in my lifetime at least, to hold on to our freedoms, than in this moment of now. I do not have a political agenda—as freedom does not belong to a single cause, it belongs to all of humanity. This is not a book about political rights; it’s a book about human rights. If you need tips for how to hold on to your personal freedoms, it’s in here.
Life begins in the presence of freedom.
We can wait to live the life of freedom we want, until we check off all the boxes we think are necessary to do so; or we can recognize the freedom we already have and build from there.
A schoolteacher commented, in her review, that the book reminded her of Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations and wrote, “There is so much truth, beauty, and goodness to be gained from reading this work. It is something I will return to again and again over the years.”
Several people have commented that listening to the book feels like sitting with a comforting friend. There are many lovely five star reviews for your consideration. I hope that you will take a listen to the book, if for nothing more than the blooper reel at the end.
After I witnessed an unknown poet have her work usurped, I was given the legal advice to place the following © date and statement on all my work: This concept/theory/poem is original to Sage Justice © December 30, 2025.
